My Fine Art View
I am an explorer, and life has offered me ample opportunity in this regard including:
•A broad military and business career (military and civilian pilot, bar owner, accredited senior appraiser, accredited computer professional, certified member of the Institute for Profesionals in taxation (IPT), and Fellow of the Life Management Institute, leader and executive with various multinational corporations);
•A learning, working photographer in training
•A wide variety of athletic and leisure activities (long distance endurance road biking, long range target shooting etc.);
•Many interesting places to live (Calgary, Canada to …, Oslo, Norway and who knows where next);
•An ongoing adventure with challenging personal issues that has sent me intellectually to the edges of what we know about our bodies, and provided a variety of physical and emotional challenges that drew me into some of life's darkest and brightest corners.
Most of my days pass quickly as a result of my tendency to welcome new experience. This may be why I have enjoyed photography as a serious pursuit for many years. There, I slow down and feel life's poetry. focus stacking Images of flowers and the hidden aspects of the micro/macro world do this best for me. The pictures are realistic, and yet at times transfix me with their surreality.
Other aspects of life feel similar to me. The reality of a long road race becomes surreal. Obstacles and challenges in life have taken me to similar reality and priority warping places. What I have learned behind the camera – the ability to be still and present to the details of an experience – have been immeasurably helpful here. This amplifies the awe these experiences always include.
According to my friend in Canmore, Alberta, Canada and another friend in California,USA, the photographic journey (including all the potholes) will be enlightening and good for the soul.
Life is good. All of it.
